Engineer in training

Silverpeak is looking for a Structural Engineer in Training with a broad range of experience working with various structural components for existing and new structural projects. This is not simply a CAD position or a job where you will be spoon-fed a stream of tasks by a manager. What you will be doing

  • Responsible for overall project management from beginning to end
  • Performing calculations and design for commercial, residential, and industrial projects
  • Coordination and development of construction drawings
  • Development of drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Coordinate with other designers and engineers
  • Design document submission and review adjustments

What you will need to know/have

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit preferred
  • Experience with enercalc, RISA and spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes and safety laws
  • Knowledge of steel, concrete and wood design
  • Advanced math skills and spacial relations understanding
  • Ability to design structure of a single family residence or small commercial building
  • Ability to solve engineering problems using sound engineering judgment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable interacting with clients
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam as an EIT
  • 1-2 years of related experience preferred, including working towards professional engineering licensure in the State of Utah
  • Hands-on construction experience a big plus

Compensation

Salary negotiable depending on experience
